Fendi SS13: Meditation on Modernism

As Tim Blanks aptly summarised on Style.com, Fendi expresses modernism in its own terms, own way and own techniques in its SS13 collection. Joint by a few familiar faces Vanness Wu, Lisa S, Shine, and Tina Leung on the FROW, I instantly fell in love with the collection watching the geometric patterns frame the models’ figures, emphasising the seamlessness of saldatura welding used on every piece of the collection that passed my eye.

The sensation was of course not only expressed through its collection but also by the choice of interior, event set up, stage design and even the canape presentation. Hats off to Mr Karl Lagerfeld and Madame Silvia Venturini Fendi, and Fendi Asia team.

My sister and I attended the Hong Kong Tatler 35th Anniversary ball at Grand Hyatt on Saturday. She in a gorgeous Fendi black number and I in Celine.

A fete of dashing ladies, dapper gents, dazzling interior, and lots of twirling around.

3.1 Phillip Lim Fall Winter 2012 Press Preview

I find comic book femme fatales particularly endearing - a killer combination of power, danger and sexiness can weaken and destroy even the strongest of men. To me, a femme fatale is a woman with thick red lips, eyes on the prowl, skin dripping white like snow, her endless legs veiled in a villain’s cape, she lurks, she seduces and she ensnares her victim. For Fall 2012, Phillip Lim takes inspiration from Sin City and V for Vendetta, he artfully combines his image of a femme fatale with pages from a black and white neo-noir comic, producing graphically poignant pieces echoing prints from Roy Lichtenstein for Pre-Fall 2012 and contrast colored layers and accentuated waistline creating a woman of illusions for FW 2012 runway.

I was invited by the superstar team behind 3.1 Phillip Lim to play dress up at their press preview yesterday.

HK’s Chanel “The Little Black Jacket” Exhibit x Ketchup Magazine

It’s funny how snippets of memories from a trip to Bombay can transform into a fashion inspiration. In celebration of Chanel’s The Little Black Jacket in Hong Kong, Ketchup Magazine invited me to style myself using my personal Chanel archive. I chose to wear colorful 90s vintage pieces from my mother’s closet while accenting my accessories with a sprinkle of India. What do you think?

Peekaboo with Fendi

It was such a pleasure to have my very own private tour to Fendi’s The Whispered Italian Grand Tour Exhibition at The Landmark Atrium last Thursday. Inspired by a book jointly published by Fendi and Electra celebrating Italian craftsmanship and culture, the exhibition brings the volume to life in 9 different craft items. Not a lot of people know about this, but I spent my first year of university in Florence and of course, walking through this exhibit stirred up memories of my time in Italy.

Vogue China It Girls Watch Story – June 2012

Did I tell you how much I HEART VOGUE CHINA? For their It Girl Style feature this month, I get to wear Solange Azagury-Partridge’s psychedelic Zodiac collection (Don’t ask me how much this cost, their press office sent a bodyguard to keep an eye on the baubles while we were shooting… ) and a crazy embellished Dolce and Gabbana raincoat from the SS12 collection. How freaking awesome is that?

Many thanks to Senior Fashion Editor Grace Lam (bottom pic, holding my skateboard phone) for inviting me to this amazing shoot and for knowing me so well! Loving the ensemble and yes, the crazier the better

Furla Candy Brissima Tour – Hong Kong Launch

I was invited to witness Furla’s Candy Brissima Tour in Hong Kong’s IFC. Hungover from the Alexander Wang party the night before, I brave the afternoon sun with a pair of happy sunglasses.

I am in love with the new concept! Furla used the oh-so-popular Candy Boston bag as a base and invited creatives from all around the world to get their hands dirty. During the event, we get to see customization performances by ladies in lab coats assembling bits and parts into whimsical concoctions. They’ve also invited a few celebrities to come up with their own designs on stage.

Aren’t these bags adorable? I’d love to make my own.

In celebration of the tour, Furla designed 4 special edition versions and are now available in-store. My favourite is the 2nd to the left, muted gray that looks a bit like concrete.

I think all of these women are morning people. Happily disguising my eye bags with these reflective sunnies.
